According to fightnews.com, Juan Manuel Marquez (52-5-1 38 KO) will defend his WBA/WBO lightweight titles against former WBA interim super featherweight champion Likar Ramos. The fight will take place on July 16 in Cancun, Mexico.
Ramos is a 25-year-old (24-3 18 KO) Colombian fighter who has a pretty empty record even though he can call himself a former "champion". The two times he has stepped up he has lost to Walter Estrada and Jorge Solis.
This is no doubt the biggest fight of his career and one that could put him on the map. A win here is very unlikely though, and Marquez is taking an exteremly soft touch before his fight with Manny Pacquiao.
It was rumored that he would be fighting David Diaz but a deal couldn't be reached, and this is a major step down.
