Monty Meza Clay will make his long anticipated return to the ring at The Mountaineer on May 17. This will be the first time that Meza Clay has stepped into a ring since he defeated Emmanuel Lucero at The Mountaineer in December of 2012. Meza Clay fought Lucero twice in 2012 and then had various health issues that kept him out of the ring.

He has had some dates lined up but was not able to step between the ropes. His opponent has not yet been announced but who he fights is of little matter, just getting back into the ring is important for Meza Clay. After losing back to back fights in 2009 Meza Clay (34-3 21 KO) was building momentum with six straight wins.

His momentum was stopped cold after the second Lucero fight when health issues started popping up and preventing him from fighting. Meza Clay could of probably stepped back into the ring sooner but he wanted to feel 100 percent before making the decision to step back into the ring. Pittsburgh fight fans surely missed the all action style of Meza Clay.

The former West Virginia Super Featherweight and Lightweight champion and International Boxing Association Super Featherweight champion, is always exciting and his return should draw a good crowd to The Mountaineer.

This card will also feature two other Tom Yankello fighters, Bill Hutchinson and Edward Latimore. Hutchinson (8-1-3 4 KO) is coming off of a draw against Greg Coverson Jr. and will be looking to get back in to the win column.

Powerful heavyweight hopeful Edward Latimore will be back in action coming off of a KO-1 over Rubin Williams. Latimore (4-0 4 KO) has yet to go past the second round and doesn't intend to ever hear the final bell. This will be the second fight for Latimore in less than two months.

Kissing the Canvas will have ticket info when it becomes available.
