Fightnews.com is reporting that Peter Manfredo Jr. is coming out of retirement to fight local fighter Rayco Saunders. Manfredo Jr. last fought Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., then the WBC middleweight champion, in November 2011 losing that fight, by knockout in the fifth round, and announcing his retirement shortly after.

Manfredo Jr. (37-7 20 KO) has decided to lace the gloves up again and will take on local fighter Rayco "War" Saunders. Saunders (22-18-2 9 KO) is riding a four fight losing streak and is 2-4 in his last six but the record is deceiving.

The combined record of Saunders last four opponents is 67-2-1 with two of the fighters being undefeated. Saunders is a good measuring stick for fighters and is very durable going the distance with big punchers like Ismayl Sillakh, Edison Miranda, Chris Henry, Emmanuel Nwodo, and Imamu Mayfield.

His best win was over another local fighter Adah, PA. resident Tommy Karpency. Karpency was 11-0-1 at the time of their fight. He also has a draw with two time world champion contender Danny Santiago.

Saunders is a solid test and Manfredo could find himself in trouble if he has major ring rust.
