This past Saturday, November 24, 2012 Army Veteran Sammy Vasquez improved his record to 6-0 (4 KO) with a stoppage of George “El Terrible” Sosa. Vasquez controlled most of the round with his superior hand speed and combination punching before dropping his opponent for good with a wicked right hook.
The 26-year-old Vasquez knocked out his opponent in 2:22 of the very first round. Sosa was 6-1 (6 KO) coming into the fight. Vasquez is easily the most exciting prospect in the area and has a very good chance to make waves on the national scene in 2013.
Vasquez is probably the best prospect in the area since Paul Spadafora turned pro in 1995. As most know Spadafora went on to win the IBF lightweight title and defend it eight times before his career was slowed down.
Vasquez said he wants to fight one more time before the year out and if he does it will be an early Christmas gift to all the boxing fans in the area.
